The Alpha Phi Sigma Chapter of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. established Service For Humanity, Inc. in 2015 as a nonprofit organization, driven by a desire to provide more support in Education and Social Action in the Columbus, Georgia, area. The members believed that establishing a nonprofit organization would enable the chapter to raise more funds and serve the community more effectively. All funds raised contribute to the chapter’s scholarships, mentoring programs, and community service efforts.

MISSiON

To initiate and support community-based programs that facilitate excellence in academics and high moral character. To provide community service to local youth, minority businesses, and economically challenged communities in the greater Columbus, Georgia/Phenix City, Alabama area.

fundraising efforts

Service for Humanity, Inc., executes fundraising activities to support the Chapter’s Scholarship and Community Support efforts through its Program areas (Education, Bigger & Better Business, Social Action, and Sigma Beta Club). The John R. Lewis Scholarship Lunch is the annual signature fundraising event for the chapter.

The John R. Lewis Scholarship Luncheon is an opportunity for the Alpha Phi Sigma Chapter to acknowledge and honor community organizations and individuals for their service to the community in education, business, children's support, and humanitarian efforts. The recognition awards are the John R. Lewis Humanitarian Award, the James Walker Bigger and Better Business Award, the S.P. Charleston Education Award, the Henry Cook Social Action Award, and the W.C. Jackson Sigma Beta Recognition Award.
