chapter history
The Alpha Phi Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. was founded in 1947 in Columbus, Georgia, by seven visionary men dedicated to uplifting the local community and expanding opportunities for African Americans.
Since its inception, the Chapter has remained at the forefront of addressing key community issues, including juvenile justice, social justice, civil rights, and civil liberties. Members have also been strong advocates for educational access and community engagement.
Over the years, Alpha Phi Sigma brothers have made a lasting impact by serving in local government and politics and by holding leadership positions within the Fraternity at the State, Regional, and National levels.
As we proudly celebrate 78 years of service to the Columbus community, we honor our legacy, embrace the present, and remain committed to shaping a brighter future.
